Yes, it's week six of the specimen project. No, I won't be posting them here anymore. The series is filling out quite nicely in all of it's lo-fi high tech glory and I've been heavily encouraged to do something special with them. I will share when ready... Mysterious!

'Tis the season for me feeling like this:

San Francisco November 2011

Now for Mulled Wine!

Bring to a simmer:

1 cup water

1/2 cup orange juice

1/2 cup sugar

2 cinnamon sticks

12 whole allspice

12 whole clove

12 black peppercorns

6 cardamom pods

zest of 1 lemon

zest of 1 orange

Once simmering add:

1 sliced lemon

1 sliced orange

2 bottles cheap red wine

bring back to a simmer

Don't over boil! You don't want to cook off the good stuff!

Turn to low heat

then add:

1 cup brandy

Strain & serve! Zing!

All warm and fuzzy.

too much, too fast.

So much to report, but time keeps on slippin'!

death by bay bridge

The Berkeley Municipal Pier used to extend 3.5 miles into the bay. Used as part of an auto ferry system between the east bay and San Francisco from 1927 until 1939.

The opening of the Bay Bridge was the pier's undoing.
